The goal of this project was to familiarise yourself with something you have little to know knowledge of and to educated yourself through an experimental exercise. Upon completing the twenty-one day intervention we had to select one of the topics (or a combination of them) and do a five day intervention where you will explore your chosen topic even more to learn the social-and psychological factors that surround your new way of life.
By doing each of these seven topics you gain more respect for individuals that live these lives and have to do this every day, putting yourself in someone else’s shoes is difficult but very necessary. You wouldn’t understand why someone does certain things or acts certain ways until you understand their side of it and through this process I was able to learn about others as well as myself. You are forced to try and experience things you are uncomfortable or unfamiliar with which just expands your mind and understanding.
I learnt more than I anticipated I would, I picked up new habits and rituals and discarded others that weren’t as good for me, I opened my eyes to other people and things that they might be going through and I was able to find comfort in knowing that everyone goes through their own unique things that make them insecure and the lengths that they are willing to go to, to ensure they meet societal norms.
