'RÄTTVISENS ORDNING'
I decided to create a new civilisation i.e. cult. I have always been fascinated with cults, how they operate, what their belief systems are and what type of individual joins such a community. My decision to create a cult was heavily influenced by films and series that I have watched. ‘The leftovers’ and ‘Midsommar’ are both giant contributors to my project, they both contain cults, one based on religion and one based on culture. The religious aspects are very intriguing to me as I am religious but not to the extent of starting my own religious movement or smoking until the point of death as a glorified way of committing suicide. The series ‘Lost’ and ‘The Society’ also influenced my cult through the behaviours that were shown by the individuals in certain isolated circumstances, they way they reacted to their surroundings and happenings and how they embraced it and grew in the society.
My cult or society is called ‘ Rättvisens ordning’ (Swedish) for the Order of Justice. The Swedish was inspired by Midsommar, a Swedish film based on a cultural cult. The name is fitting, striking and ties in really well with the overall aesthetic of the community.
I loved the project, every aspect of it questioned my sanity, what I deem as a perfect society and enables me to highlight problems in society that I do not agree with. Overall the project was a success because it is unique to each individual but tests our creativity. The project allowed me to explore some twisted thoughts and aspects I would not normally think of, creating some interesting thought processes and highlighting some major problems that I have with society as a whole. I was able to be creative, weird and intrigued all at the same time through this creative process.
